Gold Coast Sports Events for 2024

Kirra Longboard Klassic

When: TBA

Where: Kirra Beach, Coolangatta, QLD

It’s time to hit the waves again and show off your best moves on your longboard. Join the Kirra Longboard Klassic and ride the world-class waves of Coolangatta’s famed Kirra Beach. This event is open for amateur surfers who prefer their trusty longboards.

There will be a division for locals only and a separate division for service members. If you’re here just to have a good time on or off the waves, dress up as your favourite celebrity or movie character.

Usher Cup

When: 18th to 21st January, 2024

Where: Snapper Rocks Rd, Coolangatta QLD

Head to the Gold Coast to watch the world’s best surfers duke it out in one of Australia’s best surf spots. There will be separate competitions for male and female surfers. There will also be a competition for international clubs from teams from New Zealand, Japan, Indonesia, and the United States.

But this event is much more than surfing. The Usher Cup celebrates local arts and skate culture and will feature live music performances.

Gold Coast Open

When: 16th to 18th February, 2024

Where: Burleigh Heads

There’s still time to catch the last waves of summer on the Gold Coast! Check out the Gold Coast Open, which will happen from February 16 to 18. Head to Burleigh Heads and watch the best local and international surfers battle it at one of the Gold Coast’s beaches. The WSL QS Longboard event will also debut here.

There will be different divisions for men and women riding shortboards and longboards. Plus, sunrise yoga sessions and live music will make the event lively. Meet new friends at the beach bar and chill out zone, or feast on the most delicious foods the Gold Coast can offer at different food stalls.

Surfing State of Origin

Where: Burleigh Heads

Which state has the best surfers? Watch the Surfing State of Origin as New South Wales and Queensland Boardrider Clubs battle it in Burleigh Heads to find which state has the best surfers.

A beach bar will allow you to enjoy refreshing drinks before, during, and after the competition. Sit on the grass or sand and hear the best live music from local performers.

Golf Coast Master Golf Championship

When: 21st to 24th July, 2024

Where: Multiple golf courses on the Gold Coast

Beyond the beaches and the thrilling nightlife, the Gold Coast is known for its beautiful and easily accessible golf courses. This year, the city will host the Gold Coast Masters from July 21st to 24th. This event will happen at three of the city’s most gorgeous golf courses: Lakelands Golf Club, Links Golf & Wellbeing Hope Island, and RACV Royal Pines Resort. Queensland State Cup Touch Football Carnival

When: 24th to 26th November, 2024

Where: Coomera Sports Park, Gold Coast

Watch 1,500 participants from all over the Sunshine State go head-to-head in one of the year’s most significant touch football events. There will be competitions for male and female groups and mixed teams.

fisiocrem GC50 Run Festival

The fisiocrem GC50 Run Festival is back in Coolangatta this November, for a weekend full of exhilarating running and beachside fun! Experience a breathtaking course along the stunning Gold Coast Coastline, with distances to suit every runner, including 50km, 25km, 12km, 5km, and Kids Dash events. 

Gold Coast Triathlon

When: 6th to 7th April, 2024

Where: Broadwater Parklands, Marine Parade, Southport, QLD

Have fun at the Gold Coast Triathlon with the entire family. This sporting event is open to kids and adults alike. It features 5km and 10km courses and a 1km dash for kids.
